The Beginnings of a Production!

So today myself and Emily attended a workshop session where we both learnt how to set up a stereo pair of microphones, ready for when our actors come into the studio. Also, our first draft of the script was submitted and we’ve received feedback already, which means we can begin working on the next draft and hopefully finish that off soon.

As for our actors, we have a person in mind to play our vicar, and Emily is speaking to a man who is interested in playing the role of Frank, the bereaved dad. Hopefully we’ll get these casted soon, as well as our two ‘whisperers,’ ready to record in the studio next Friday!

Myself and Emily also took a very windy trip up to the Bailgate Methodist Church in Lincoln in order to record some sound effects using a Marantz. I have a copy of the sounds on my laptop, which I shall back up for security reasons, and listen to them with my headphones in a short while to check that the quality is satisfactory.

The next thing we both need to do is apply for a weeks extension, in order to give us some breathing space when it comes to the editing!

The Weekend Update

So, over the weekend myself and Emily both have been pretty busy.

I wrote about four pages of script, using a very handy template made available from the BBC Writersroom: (http://www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/send-a-script/formatting-your-script)

Emily has also written a couple of pages, so we’re hoping to combine these, edit them and get a first draft sent off to see how well it works.

We’ve also had contact with a church, for us to be able to film on location, and several actors have responded to the StarNow advertisement Emily created, so we’ll need to audition them ASAP.

Hopefully we’ll be able to get some recording completed soon!

A Little Introduction.

Hello!

This site is for you, the listeners, to learn all about the progress myself and my fellow creator and Director Emily Pheby are making on our radio drama: In Memoriam.

Our drama is a small 6-8 minute piece based around a funeral of a young man. But not all is as it seems, as will be revealed!

We hope to have this to you by 11th February, but with us both coming late into the project, we will have to keep our fingers crossed and wait and see.

At the moment, we have created a proposal outlining our idea, and then had a very successful ‘Work in Progress Board’ where a panel of three tutors assessed our work to see whether it was good to continue. So far, we’ve had good responses!

Over the weekend we hope to complete our first draft of the script, and to begin casting.

I’ll keep you updated, but for now have a read of our proposal, to get a better understanding of our idea!
